John Picacio

John believes in choosing what one loves over what one likes. When he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with an architecture degree, he liked making buildings, but he loved science fiction/fantasy art and storytelling. The rest is history.

Winner of eight Chesley Awards, two Hugo Awards, two Locus Awards, the World Fantasy Award, and the Inkpot, John Picacio is one of the most acclaimed American science fiction/fantasy cover illustrators of the last decade, creating iconic art for works by George R. R. Martin, James Dashner, Michael Moorcock, Lauren Beukes, Dan Simmons, and many more. He lives in San Antonio with wife and daughter, where he’s discovering the astonishing future past of Loteria.
