Mackenzie graduated from Penn State University in 2009 with a degree in microbiology, but she quickly realized her passion for books and ideas outweighed her love of science. She got her start in publishing as an intern at Farrar, Straus & Giroux and FinePrint Literary Mgmt. She then cut her teeth as an agent at Charlotte Sheedy Literary Agency before moving to New Leaf in 2014.
She represents a large and diverse list of nonfiction and a small but beloved list of literary/upmarket YA and adult fiction. She is particularly interested in projects that move the cultural conversation forward and have a lasting impact on readers (think The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Evicted, The Power of Habit, The Spectacular Now, etc.).
