Irene Reed writes adult mystery and suspense. A native of Chicago’s South Side, Irene wrote her debut story, the Beanies, in first grade. She received her AB in Government from Harvard College and her JD from Harvard Law School, while sneaking in as many creative writing classes as possible. A 2019 Kimbilio Fellow and Pitch Wars alumna, Irene’s fiction has received the Mystery Writers of America Helen McCloy Scholarship and the Hugh Holton Award, as well as a Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing fellowship. She is a member of the Mystery Writers of America.
Irene lives in the Chicago suburbs with her bibliophile husband, their two boys, and their German Shepherd, Sasha. A lover of all things spicy, she craves the perfect jalapeno margarita and believes Sriracha should be its own food group. If she’s not writing, reading, working, or caring for her family, she’s scrambling to find her overdue library books. When she’s lucky enough to sleep, she dreams of more time to write.
