Alaina Mauro is the Chief Operating Officer of New Leaf Literary, a full-service literary management and representation firm based in New York City. Before joining New Leaf, Mauro ran her own firm Pheasant Hill Consulting where she built custom business plans for new and small publishers drawing on her nearly 20 years of professional experience in the publishing industry.
In 2017, Mauro built Granity Studios’ publishing division, where she turned Kobe Bryant’s book ideas into five New York Times-bestsellers in 18 months. Before Granity, she helped oversee the James Patterson program at the Hatchette Book Group, overseeing both day-to-day operations and the launch of two new imprints in Adult and Children’s. In 2022, Mauro served as a temporary Marketing Director at Simon & Schuster. She launched her career at Penguin Random House in 2004, with her last role there as the Digital Account Manager in the Penguin Young Readers sales department.
Mauro holds an MBA from Fordham University and a BA from Boston College.
