Jaylene Clark Owens is a vibrant and imaginative soul hailing from Harlem, NY and currently residing in the Greater Philadelphia Region. She is an AUDELCO and Barrymore Award-winning actress, as well as a highly acclaimed, award-winning poet. Jaylene’s magnetic presence has graced the stage, film, and television, captivating hearts in every performance. On stage, she has been seen in productions such as, WHITE (Theatre Horizon) and her Barrymore award-winning performance in An Octoroon (The Wilma Theater). Jaylene was honored with the prestigious 2019 F. Otto Haas Award as an Emerging Philadelphia Theatre Artist. On television, Jaylene plays “Rosie” on the PBS Kids show, “Albie’s Elevator.” You can also see her in the recurring role of the Clerk on “Law & Order.” Jaylene is the visionary behind the viral sensation, “A Black Girl and Her Braids,” a captivating poetic celebration of beauty, identity, and empowerment. This poem is part of her debut EP, “A Black Girl and Her Hair,” available on all major streaming platforms. Her debut book of poetry, “AfroPoetic” invites readers into a world of evocative verses about life as a Black woman in the United States.
